Man just did not understand

Man saw a few rare ones amongst him,

whose countenance would seem to imply that they were much more than just "calm",

close their eyes from time to time,

and sit in silence resigning from the commotion of the world...

... and born were the words such as "meditation", "mindfulness"...

While going through his days,

he saw ants or bees "working together" in massive numbers to do various things.

He noticed two ways in which these creatures collaborated.

Either every single one of them performed the exact same task,

or a group of them as a whole appeared to accomplish a task together.

And thus...

...born was the "idea" of "groups", "teams", "teamwork",...

(The "idea" which would later become a culture of sorts,

and eventually almost a "must-have" in every single entity or trade.)

Then when looking at other men do specific tasks, he noticed a few things.

He saw that some would do the task as if there was no "them" doing it.

As if, they have dissolved in the task in a way,

that at that moment, they have become the task.

As if, there was no separation between the doer and the doing.

And thus...

... born were the words of "focus", "concentration", "deep work"...

And as he traveled to other regions of the world,

places that his people have not even heard of,

let alone seen or been to,

his eyes landed on something that immediately drew his attention.

He saw a few holding poses or changing between them fluidly,

with a sense of calm, stark presence and nonchalance,

and almost with an intent of devotion towards their own selves...

... and born were the words of "yoga" and its many, many, many variants...

When he decided to participate in sports for leisure,

to satisfy his curiosity about them,

or some other "beneficial reason" that he picked up here and there,

he could not help but took note of a few.

For they were performing the sport with an intensity and fierceness of an erupting volcano,

but also with the calm of the warm wind that caresses the seashores.

These same people would go on to become what the world would label "Legend",

and would be remembered along with the sport for the times ahead.

But he failed to pinpoint the traits of these people,

that made them do what they could and thus ...

...born were the words of "speed", "agility", "strength", "technique"...

He noticed a few things about his own living as well...

He noticed that doing some things, made him feel really good.

The pleasure that he got while doing some of these was too much.

But a bout or a sequence thereof of such an act would make him feel listless,

and drain his desire to do other things.

Things, that he realized he needed to sustain his livelihood.

Things, that would keep his mind off his need for such intense pleasures.

Things, that he saw his brethren partake in their day-to-day...

... and born were the words of "moderation", "self-control", "discipline"...

When he did not do something, he felt a sense of emptiness,

even more so when he was just by himself.

At times, it was a sinking feeling in the stomach,

which only made him want to do one thing - escape the state somehow.

But the more he tried to escape it,

by turning to the memories of the times that felt good,

or to the promises of those that were impending,

or by pleasuring himself somehow,

the worse and worse it got...

... and born were the words of "boredom", "loneliness", "depression"...

He also noticed that when he was busy doing something,

either those that he needed to stay alive,

to support himself and his tribe or family,

he would stay away from that sinking feeling of "loneliness",

and did not have to continually fight the urge for intense pleasures.

They were still there "somewhere",

but would not bother him to the point of needing to be acted upon.

And to his surprise, doing these things provided him pleasure too...

...but of a much milder intensity and different nature...

...a feeling acknowledged as "good" and "moral" by those around him...

... and thus born were the words of "purpose", "meaning", "reason"...

~~~
...And to this day,
such words continue to serve man to justify and rationalize,
in all possible ways,
the "reason" behind why he is where he has been.
Will such words continue to grow in number?
Absolutely!
Will such words continue to imprison more and more humans?
You bet!
Will such words continue to be relied upon by "self-help" books and "experts"?
I see NO way they will not be!
...
Understand this ...
Words are just a medium.
Languages are just a bridge.
But the Mind bastardizes its creations by relying on them to spread more mind-fullness.
Unless people awaken ...
Unless they are dead tired...
Unless they see what they have done,
and what they have become...
Unless they want to learn...
...WHO THEY ARE...
...they will not
UNDERSTAND.
Thank you.
