In defining yourself as a coach,
you bound yourself to see the student as someone
who "needs to be coached".
And in seeing through the lens of such a need,
a need which is only yours,
you will never see the student for what they are.
Such a need will always give birth to another evil - expectation.
And,
in expecting, you will miss the true abilities of your student yet again.
For you will attempt to confirm if the student is "measuring up to" YOUR expectations.
So I urge you to understand this ...
...To coach is to satisfy a need
In seeing things as a coach,
you will see only that which a coach wants to see.
What a coach will want to see, will source from all things "coaching",
such as ...
a coach's life
a coach's circle
a coach's ambitions
a coach's exposure
and the expectations out of a coach.
As a coach,
you will see through this cloud,
and impose resultant limits on the student.
The student, who has nothing, I repeat, nothing to bother,
or care about "all things coaching".
But the student,
who would come to you as a blank canvas,
will be "painted" all over in your colors.
And in being "painted",
they will be tainted sooner than later.
So I urge you to understand this ...
...to "coach" is to limit and deform.
In first trying to be a coach,
then "working your way up as one",
and finally "trying to sell yourself as one",
though you will gain all the superficial goods,
be it having a high paying and "high-end" clientele,
or having the "best in class" people around you,
or maybe even "rank high up there",
but I will ask you this ...
Will you ever attract the true students?
NO, my friend, you will not.
For in climbing the fake ladder of "achievement",
you will cloud yourself with more and more of "students",
who on the surface will call themselves "serious" and "I will give everything you ask".
But deep down they will be anything but serious.
So I urge you to understand this ...
... to "coach" is to never coach the true students.
Perhaps the greatest gift as a human,
is one of having a Mind that can be used to understand,
and thus learn continually and non-stop,
that is until our lungs can breathe and our frame can hold us.
And perhaps,
one of the superior ways to do so,
is not just being "a student for life",
but deciding at the very start,
to be a MASTER.
For it is only in deciding to be a Master,
can you be the greatest student of LIFE,
and of the nothingness that surrounds us.
That is if you do not first choke yourself,
by giving yourself a goal that you reach too easily,
by aiming to be just a coach.
So I urge you to understand this ...
... to "coach" is to never truly learn.
Human beings are one of a kind.
Every single one of them hides
not just what the world will label "talent" or "skill".
They hide an entire universe within themselves!
And thus,
every time you take a student under you,
it is your opportunity to unleash a universe out of themselves!
Aah ...
Just writing that line filled me with enough inspiration for another 10 lifetimes.
This universe is often hidden,
like a treasure chest,
much much farther away from the realms of their Mind.
I understand if it sounds like a daunting task to your mind,
but is that not the whole point of being alive?
To reach higher and higher levels of existence,
that our petty minds cannot fathom?
But understand this,
if you go in as a coach, you will go with an agenda.
And in going in with an agenda, you will go in as your Mind.
And in going in as your mind, you will always, without fail,
meet their Mind (only).
You will completely fail to meet them or glimpse the universe
they are hiding beneath their selves.
So I urge you to understand this ...
... to "coach" is to never nurture or wonder What If?.
Dear friend,
I salute your ambition and the drive to do great things,
to coach the greatest athletes and build the teams of the future.
But should we not also remember,
that Life is but a game,
one available naturally and freely to every single one of us.
And if in trying to become a coach,
very possibly a "great and famous" one,
you end up having to sacrifice your ability to PLAY,
what is the point of being one?
And so, I urge you to understand this ...
...to coach is to never PLAY.
Thank you.
